Every project requires a different type of illustration style to really bring it to life.
For the African storybook “Duma The Lion”, I decided the best way to breathe life into the story would be to use a somewhat realistic style. I coupled this with some Photoshop smear painting and vector leaf designs to create a forest that felt luminous and tangible.
The book is available for order on Amazon.
Duma the Lion is an African folktale about a proud lion who bullies the other forest animals and eventually suffers bad consequences. Commissioned by Storyteller Comfort Ero of the African Stages Association of British Columbia.
