Risk, Security, And the Illusion of Free Will

puppet on a string

Are risk, security and free will real?

In the strangest and most amazing way, The Universe has shown me that I need to start listening to myself more carefully.

The Story

I recently made some new acquaintances. On the night after I met these people, I had an interesting dream.

In this dream, I became aware that we (I and these same people) were having a frantic series of meetings. When I woke up, I couldn’t remember what the meetings were about, or what happened in them. But there was no doubt in my mind that meetings had occurred in my dream state.

In the following days, I had conversations with these people. The first thing that was strange was that I felt compelled to converse with them. I didn’t seem to be able to resist the urge to engage in these conversations. There was nothing remarkable or sinister about the conversations, they were ordinary, innocent talk. But I seemed compelled to engage in these conversations, no matter how hard I tried to avoid them or do something else.

The second thing was that as I watched my behaviour, I began to notice that I seemed to know exactly the response I needed to give to everything they said. My answers just seemed to manifest magically in my mind, and they felt like exactly the right answers to give.

My intuition strongly signalled that something was going on here that I needed to figure out. And as I looked more and more closely, it suddenly dawned on me with amazing clarity that the reason I knew the exact answers to give them was because we had agreed on a script during our meetings in my dream.

If you don’t see what is so shocking about this, let me paint it clearly for you:

Free Will is a Brilliant Illusion

In that moment of revelation, the Veil suddenly parted and I saw straight into a part of the Universe that had been hidden from me all this while.

We are not making decisions in our daily lives. We are merely acting out scripts we have agreed on in other, less conscious realities. Everything we do and experience is based on soul agreements we have made in the spiritual realms.

The reason we think we are actually making decisions and turning them into words and actions is that our script is securely hidden in our subconscious mind. We cannot access it consciously — we have “forgotten” it, or hidden it from ourselves. And so, this makes us think our actions are spontaneous, and deceives us that our decisions are made based on our conscious experiences. In fact, we are just actors acting out scripts stored in our subsconscious minds.

A brilliant, ingenious illusion.

Okay, So Where is the Proof?

Of course, you don’t have to just take my word for it.

First, you can begin to watch your own life and behaviour more closely. You will definitely discover several occasions where you’re doing or saying something without really understanding why you’re doing or saying it.

Besides, experiments have been suggesting that there is no such thing as free will for quite a while now.

From Wikipedia:

“One significant finding of modern studies is that a person’s brain seems to commit to certain decisions before the person becomes aware of having made them. Researchers have found delays of about half a second (discussed in sections below). With contemporary brain scanning technology, other scientists in 2008 were able to predict with 60% accuracy whether subjects would press a button with their left or right hand up to 10 seconds before the subject became aware of having made that choice.”

The Implications

jiddu krishnamurti quote - observe yourself

Jiddu Krishnamurti: “Observe yourself.”

Okay. So how does this concern you, or affect your daily life?

It affects and concerns your daily life in massive ways.

  • Everyone is innocent. Since everything that happens is based on non-conscious agreements, nobody is doing evil to anybody. Nobody is a victim. This means you don’t have to beat yourself up over the terrible things you have done, and you don’t have to blame anyone for what they have done to you either. This is the true meaning of forgiveness. Of course, this doesn’t mean you must fall in love with everybody. There are still people you naturally won’t like, because that’s your script. But it does mean that you don’t have to actively hate anybody. Also, next time you watch the news and view war and conflict, think about this and ask yourself: If everybody is an actor acting a script, is this war even real?

  • You are not the decision maker of your life. You are just a spectator. Therefore, rejoice over your victories, but don’t punish yourself for your defeats and mistakes. You really have no choice about making mistakes.
  • The reason you suffer is because you fight against your script, instead of watching it. As long as you believe you are in complete control of your life, you will struggle to understand why things do not go your way and why you can’t seem to achieve certain things. Understanding that your life is a movie you are watching frees you from this struggle and allows you to sit back and watch your life happen, and enjoy it and learn from it.
  • If you’re not the person performing your daily activities, but the person watching your body perform them, then who are you? Until you answer this question, you really don’t know who you are.

Even More Implications

If free will is an illusion (at least at the conscious level), and every decision and action has already been scripted, then the idea of risk is an illusion too.

There can only be risk when the outcome is not certain. But when the whole scenario has been scripted, the concept of risk becomes totally irrelevant.

Also, because there is no risk, the need for security is an illusion too. What do you need security from? Who are you trying to protect, and what are you trying to protect them from? Are you trying to protect yourself from the script you personally agreed on? Are you trying to protect yourself from the actions and conversations you agreed to with other people?

As you can see, security makes no sense.

The Irony

The ridiculous irony of the matter for me is this is not new information. This is exactly what I have been saying all along.

In fact, here’s an idea I wrote in my journal on May 13, 2016:

“Deja vu isn’t when you feel you have seen something before. It’s that rare moment when you know for a fact that everything has already happened, and you’re just watching it replay itself.”

So why am I surprised?

Because I wasn’t listening to myself. I thought I knew what I was saying, but now I realize that I was just reciting a script all this time. Only now have I become even more aware of the script I have been reciting, and what it means.

I believe a good part of the reason I can see this now is because of the assistance of the Owl Spirit. I have been wearing the Owl Spirit for a while, and looking through the eyes of the owl I have become more and more aware of the hidden aspects of life and reality.

Well, that’s all for now folks. Thank you for reading. I’m off to practice (more) of what I preach.
